The outside of our house does not look very different, but there is a lot going on inside. Scott is about 1/3 of the way through installing our Ice House Roof. He choose to install the scariest part first, the ceiling of our vaulted living room. I am very glad that part is over, it was nerve racking to see him walking on the rafters 11 feet in the air. I have been helping him by preparing the pieces for installation, because people that are afraid of heights don’t walk in rafters.
The deck has been installed and the railings are on. Several doors have been installed, and only the front door and the garage doors need to be installed before the house is lockable! They are pouring the floor of our porch today, which I am really looking forward to seeing. Our cabinet maker, unfortunately, pointed out a few things that need to be changed. We have four doors upstairs that are 2 feet wide, but by code they have to be 4 inches wider so our builder is going to have to rip those out and replace them. It is a disappointment, but it is better to find that out now when it is easier to fix, then fail another inspection and have to redo it later.
