We checked the stakes and they looked fine. We had fun with the girls by standing in the locations of a future rooms and telling them what would be there. We all decided that I really need to clean the floor in my bedroom because it is full of rocks and dirt, and the girls couldn’t quite believe it when I had to point to the sky to tell them where there rooms would be.
They were supposed to start excavating today, but it rained so it looks like they will start digging Tuesday or Wednesday. I can’t wait!
They have re-staked the house so the excavator knows where to dig. Scott and I are going to go and take a look tonight to make sure it is correct and then the digging can begin.
Scott is now studding code books so he can take the tests to be the official Plummer and Electrician for our house; we hope to be able to save some money by doing the work ourselves. This should be quite a learning experience.
Things are starting to move along with our house, weather permitting, we will break ground this week!! The Arxx blocks we will use for our foundation walls will be also be delivered this week. I may soon be the proud owner of Insulated Concrete Walls.
The other day, as I was making cupcakes with Kaitlyn, Erin was quietly playing in the living room (that should have been the first sign something was up). As we were cracking eggs to add to the batter I heard Erin exclaim with joy “Yea, I caught a fishy!” I went in to the living room and asked her to release the fish she was so happily holding back into the fish tank; I then told her that the fishy need to stay in the water to keep them healthy. I gave her a towel to dry her hands and then went back to making the cupcakes. I returned to the living a few minute later to investigate the sound of splashing water. It seems Erin had decided to give the fish a puppet show by putting the towel in the water and swishing it around. Ah, only a four year old can figure out how to play with fish.
The county just called and said that the permits are ready to be picked up!!! Now we get to schedule the ground breaking.
Only 5 months left before the new school year starts. I hope we can be in by then.
I just remembered that I have one other jpg send to us by the architect. It is of the second story. You may notice that the two bedrooms are mirror images of each other. This is not by mistake. I remember all too clearly how much grief I caused my family because my sister’s room was slightly different then mine. I ended up changing rooms three times before I was happy.
BTW, the upstairs is designed specifically for the kids. This way they have a place of there own, but they are only a glance away from the living room below.
