A lot has been happening with the house lately. We now have a basement floor, walls, and today we should have part of the basement ceiling. We have ordered all of our flooring for the house too, since prices are going up again soon. We are pretty sure we are not going to be in the house by August 17th (the first day of school), so we are getting a bit stressed. Either way, the girls are going to start at there new school, we just have to figure out how we will get them there.
Here is a great picture taken of Scott and the Girls at the Sunnen picnic last Friday.
Today is Scott’s Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! To celebrate we will go out to a quick dinner, and then go take a look at the New House. They were supposed to pour the basement floor on Monday, so we want to go and check it out. Boy, things change when you get older; now you only get the BIG Birthday parties every 10 years, if you are lucky. We did get together with both sides of the family over the weekend to celebrate his birthday and Fathers day, so he didn’t get too gypped.
Scott just called and said that we had our third pluming inspection today and it passed!
I am so glad! The builder (Tim) is calling the Foundation guy (Albert), and they should start pouring today or tomorrow. They have to pour the basement in two pours because we need a footing for a load bearing wall poured separately. If all goes well we should have a basement floor next week and they will start framing the house.
Also, I need to say thank you to Jim for helping me add an Archive & Quote section to my page. Now you can easily see past blogs, look the end of February 2003 for a great picture of Kaitlyn jumping on our bed.
Well, they had the plumbing inspection yesterday and it failed again.
This time, it was because the drain for the water softener is running into the drain line for the rest of the house. This is a problem because the high salt content from the water softener will upset the balance of the septic tank. Also, there is one pipe that needs to be replaced with a larger pipe, and the inspector would like us to rework the pipes for the basement bathroom. Unfortunately we can not continue with the next step until after this inspection has passed, and time it ticking by quickly. Of course it is much better to get it right now, then to discover the problems when they can not longer be easily fixed.
We went out to the new house last night and it looks like all of the plumbing has been reinstalled. So, hopefully they are going to have it inspected today (and pass this time), and they will start pouring the basement floor soon. Boy, that little slip-up caused us a lot of time.
Congratulations to Scott’s Cousin Kay. She has just passed her final inspection and can start moving into her new house!! She built a house a 1/2 mile down the road from our new house. We are looking forward to being neighbors with her and the rest Scott’s family that lives in our new neighborhood!
