The electrical work is about 99% complete.
The plumbing is coming along nicely, we have flushing toilets (there is much rejoicing) and some working sinks.
The cabinet guy clams he will have everything done by Friday (my fingers are crossed.)
Unfortunately we will not be able to have the occupancy permit inspection on Friday because there is a plumbing part we need that will not be delivered until late of Friday, so it will not be installed until Monday. Hopefully, we have the inspection early next week.
The girls have been intrigued by the grout used on the stone and tile on the fireplace. They can’t keep their hands out of the stuff. They love to stir it up and see how it changes. They knew I was in the room so were behaving themselves when I took this picture.

The cabinet guy shocked us all on Friday, because when we walked in we saw that he had been there. He installed the back splash in the kitchen, and all of the remaining bathroom vanities. He still has some work to do but we are getting there.
The Electrician, plumber, and HV/AC guys are supposed to be out there this week. If things go very, very well and we are very, very lucky we could have our occupancy permit inspection on Friday.
The electrician is out there today finishing up our electric. No word yet from the cabinet guy.
Here are some pictures of my bathrooms.

Kaitlyn was running on the play ground on Tuesday and tripped and went face first into the pavement. She has a silver dollar sized bruise/scab on her cheek. We are putting ointment on it to try to prevent a scar, but her poor little face is pretty sore.
We had a productive weekend, but so far it has been a very frustrating week for the house. Over the weekend we vacuumed all of the new carpeting, almost all of the doors were hung, and door knobs installed. My Mom, Dad, Brother, and Jasa came over and helped me clean up around the house and we took about 6 trash bags worth of trash out of the basement and organized what was left. The house is actually looking very nice now.
Now for the frustrating part, on Saturday we meet with the Cabinet guy and told him how unhappy we were that he is over a month late with our cabinets, and he is still not done yet! He promised us that they would be in on Tuesday but so far he has done nothing! He called on Wednesday with some story about hurting his toe and having to go to the hospital. I would usually believe him, and would patiently wait for him to get better, but he has given us so many excuses that it is hard to believe him anymore. The one good thing is that he has finished putting in the vanities and we were able to have the vanity tops installed this week. On Monday the Plumber will finish up all of his work and the electricians will be coming in to finish their work. Wish me luck.
Here are some updated picture of the Fireplace with grout and Carpeting, and the kitchen.

The carpeting was laid down yesterday. They will spend today and maybe part of tomorrow tacking it into place. We should get more cabinets and some counter tops today!
They handed out the Cookie Sale info at Kaitlyn’s Girl Scout meeting last night. Sales start Saturday so be ready for a call from an adorable little Brownie Saturday morning.
Our fireplace got stoned this weekend. Scott put the tile underneath so we can store wood there. The girls and I swept and vacuumed all of the rooms in preparation of the carpeting that will be installed today. And we are almost done painting the doors and trim.

Erin will be singing in her Kindergarten concert tonight. It is going to be so much fun watching all of the quite kindergardeners perform.
The cabinet maker called last night to apologize for all of the delays. He said that he will be installing all of the bathroom vanities today, and he is still working on the additional cabinets for the kitchen.
They poured a concrete pad in front of our garage yesterday; it is the width of a 3 car garage and 30 feet deep. That should be large enough to hold the cars of all of our visitors on a normal day. I guess when we have a party we will have people parking in the yard.
Most of the kitchen cabinets and the mantle were put in place yesterday! Here are some pictures:

Scott cousin Edwin made the mantle. He did a great job, I will try to get a better picture so you can see house nice it really is.

We finally have cabinets! Kaitlyn is home sick today with mild stomach flu, and I am home with her. We went up to the house to check on things today and my kitchen is filled with cabinets. They are not installed but at least they are there. Hopefully the bathroom vanities will show up soon and they will all be installed this week!
So, I walked into the new house last night, sure that there would be cabinets in the kitchen, only to find that nothing was there. I called and left a message for the cabinet maker requesting an explanation. He called me this morning and said the fuel pump on his truck went out 2 miles from my house and they had to tow it to a service station to be fixed. How Frustrating!
I just talked to our cabinet maker. They are loading the cabinets up now and will head over to my house soon. I can’t wait to see them!
Last week was a busy one for the house. Scott and the girls had the week off for Christmas vacation. He spent a lot of time up at the house working throughout the week, some nights he was up there past 3AM. We now have all of the walls painted, all of the oak railings stained and with a coat of polyurethane, and some of the door painted. My Mom, Dad, Sister, and Brother-in-law came up yesterday and helped clean up the mess left by the electricians and the cultured marble shower installation. The place is really coming together now. The cabinets should be in by the end of the week and we will soon have flushing toilets. I am starting to think that we may be able to move in sometime soon. Here’s hoping…
